Aging-in-Place: Residents’ Attitudes and Floor Plan Potential in Apartment Buildings From 1990 to 2015
Research Project, 2017
–
The research study was carried out during 2017–2020 in Gothenburg. The purpose of the research study has been to explore the housing plan's conditions and opportunities for remaining residents at an advanced age and with extensive needs for care and service. The study also describes a coherent residential area from the 1990s-2000s from an aging perspective.
The report presents a number of aspects of the physical environment in the apartments with a focus on the layout, but also the buildings and the residential area. We have studied part of the Norra Älvstranden, in the districts of Eriksberg and Lindholmen. Interviews, surveys and systematic analyzes of the physical environment complete the picture of ongoing urbanization and urban densification with a large proportion of elderly people.
