Sustainable and attractive station communities
Research Project, 2014 – 2017

Purpose: redirect societies to more sustainable travel and use the land around the stations more efficiently to increase construction and reduce emissions from transport. Land that municipalities want to build on is often close to the stations, but occupied by car parks. The project has developed tools/methods to use the land around the stations more efficiently and to build in the right place to reduce CO2 emissions. Reduced parking space allows for other solutions than private cars. The project has developed and tested local mobility services in a co-creation process.

The project has developed: parking tool for how land can be used more effectively, planning tool for land development to build on the right place to reduce CO2 emissions and mobility indexes. The project has also developed and tested local mobility services linked to a platform with a reward system for sustainable travel, and a business model for the platform. The parking study, planning tools for land development and the project process have been of great benefit to the parties. Mobility services and platform have provided valuable knowledge, but it is not ready for launch.
