Improvement of sick leave processes
Research Project, 2019 – 2021

CHI has entered into a long-standing collaboration with the Västra Götaland region in order to improve the processes regarding sick leave and rehabilitation in the region's primary care and hospital operations. The problems addressed are that individuals who are on sick leave do not receive the right intervention / support at the right time, that the right actors are not involved and that mental illness is increasingly affecting sick leave times. The basic challenge is to focus more on avoidable sick leave rather than the number of sickness cases.

The collaboration includes education, research and support for the regional process leaders who drive improvement in each area. In terms of research, we try to understand and better manage how business development can be conducted in a complex system with many actors having different perspectives, missions and measurement systems.
