INDEED: Information and Data-processing in Focus for Energy Efficiency
Research Project, 2020
–
INDEED is a research track in the Area of Advance Energy, focusing on Computer Science and Engineering perspectives, and in particular on Data Processing and Analysis for Energy Efficiency and on Energy-Efficient Data Processing (i.e. lean data analysis for information for energy/electricity systems support).
Its aim is to provide methods and studies that address the challenges within information and data processing, particularly on extracting information for monitoring and for enabling possibilities in energy-efficiency in a cost-effective way. The focus of the work is on: 1) methods and tools for data processing infrastructure for adaptive electricity systems, for continuous data-stream analysis on a variety of hardware/system architecture platforms, in low-latency and energy-efficient ways (i.e. enabling utilization of processing components in deployed distributed infrastructures, without the necessity to rely on data centers or public clouds). 2) Use-cases with analysis methods that generate useful information out of the data in evolving deployments, such as AMI at the customer side, as well as in core-network infrastructure of lower tiers (e.g. substations, distribution level), enabling low-voltage SCADA functionality. Examples of
scenarios are data validation, detection of unwanted situations, including cybersecurity aspects, demand-supply matchings, data-sharing, privacy, lineage-provenance, data-transformations pipelines.
