Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces for OTA Testing: Wireless Cable
Paper in proceeding, 2024

In our study, we demonstrate in simulations a novel application of Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS) for Over-The-Air (OTA) evaluation of antenna systems and wireless devices that includes the synthesis of a 'wireless cable' environment. We have applied a previously suggested methodology to derive the specifications for a 21x21 elements RIS-based configuration operating at 28GHz. The initial numerical data indicate that such RIS is capable of generating a reconfigurable matrix linking test probes and Device Under Test (DUT) antennas, achieving channel isolation levels up to 29.8 dB.
