Reduced material consumption in railway operations
Conference poster, 2024

Tens of thousands of tonnes of steel are being worn, machined off, or scrapped every year. This relates iin Sweden to some 15 600 km of track and some 25 000 wheelsets operating these tracks every day. What is the potential in reducing material consumption on the railway by enhanced design, reduced wear, and improved maintenance strategies?
