Anders Ekberg
Anders Ekberg's research mainly focuses on material deterioration, especially fatigue and failure of trains and track. The goal is to enhance understanding and predictive models to improve design and predictive maintenance. An important aspect is to analyse operational data and relate these to progressive deterioration of tracks and vehicles. This is valuable in preventing failures and improve planning of maintenance and reinvestments as part of asset management. For a complex and sensitive system as the railway, these are crucial aspects since unplanned operational disturbances have major detrimental effects. In addition, the ability to prevent distrbances and operational disruptions allow high economic and environmental savings.
