From wards to living rooms: normalising hospital at home care models through action research

This study explores how a Hospital at Home initiative can be understood as a normalisation process with its core mechanisms: coherence, cognitive participation, collective action, and reflexive monitoring. We analyse a two-year action research project. The results show how HaH gradually became embedded in practice through meaning-making, stakeholder engagement, structured coordination, and iterative reflection. The study contributes to understanding realisation of HaH as an ongoing social process and highlights the value of collaborative learning environments in supporting sustained change.
