Electric vehicle energy optimization for improved sustainability
Forskningsprojekt, 2022 – 2025

Electric vehicles (EVs) are one of the leading solutions to address public concerns over energy crisis, air pollution and global warming. However, the vehicle performance and economy are heavily dependent on its energy management strategies, which are now greatly limited by the lithium-ion battery system. This project has a dedicated aim to develop advanced estimation and optimization algorithms for EVs, ready to be implementable in vehicle real-time systems within a reasonable timeframe. To be specific, the technical objectives include: i) establish a data-driven model of driver’s behaviours and study its influence on battery performance; ii) propose a new energy storage system topology and develop its mathematical modelling framework; and iii) design a vehicle energy controller to optimise energy efficiency, health, and sustainability. These objectives will be achieved by taking advantage of research resources in several academic universities, research institutions, and industrial collaboration partners in both Sweden and China.
