Torsten Wik är professor i reglerteknik och leder forskargruppen Reglerteknik. Hans forskning och undervisning fokuserar främst på processreglering, såväl med metoder och teoretiska aspekter som med direkta tillämpningar. Metodmässigt är intresset särskilt inriktat på optimal reglering, modellreduktion och system med modellosäkerheter. Tillämpningarna är i regel energibesparande, miljöförbättrande och biologiska system såsom vattenreningsprocesser, recirkulerande fiskodlingar och LED-belysning i växthus. Under senare år har tillämpningarna framförallt varit fokuserade på estimering, modellering och styrning av batterier.
