Centrum för framtidens kemiska riskanalyser och styrning FRAM
Forskningsprojekt, 2016
– 2022
FRAM is a multi-disciplinary research centre focusing on chemical mixtures/chemical pollution on ecosystem services that are provided by rivers, lakes and coastal areas. The centre works in close collaboration with stakeholders from authorities, chemical regulation, chemical industry and civil society.
Given that chemical mixtures usually are far more toxic than their individual ingredients, it is not sufficient to ensure that the chemical use and management of an individual company, authority or consumer is on an acceptable level. It is the joint impact of chemicals that matters for ensuring sustainable development.
FRAM works towards defining safe local, regional and global boundaries for chemical pollution that protect ecosystem services against the impact of the totality of chemical emissions and exposures. The centre will develop policy instruments for the fair sharing of the available emission space.
