Kartläggning av dry ports i Sverige
Forskningsprojekt, 2019
The dry port concept has gained a lot of attention from the researchers lately, however, the research has been done mostly from the intermodal freight transport or seaport hinterland perspective. Dry ports as intermodal terminals with direct rail connection to a seaport are a potential solution for seaport cities congestion as well as for better seaport inland access. Implementation of a dry port brings a competitive advantage to a seaport since it might expand the seaport’s hinterland, i.e., it might improve the seaport’s access to the areas outside its traditional hinterland by offering shippers low-cost and/or high-quality services. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate supply chain benefits (in a form of cost, responsiveness, security, environmental performance, resilience, and innovation) by integration of a dry port in the system from the Swedish perspective.
