Efficiency in order picking and kitting systems

This paper presents the results from five case studies of order picking systems, focusing on pick¬ing methods involving the choice of technique when performing manual picking of kits for assembly. By introducing and applying a classification of picking systems, a basis for comparisons and explanations of picking efficiency is formed. Keywords: order picking, classification, efficiency, kitting.
