Society is undergoing socio-technical disruptions. The shipping domain is not immune to these revolutions. To address these challenges, the maritime industry, including stakeholders such as shipping companies, regulatory authorities, classification societies, and education providers cannot afford to be reactive to digitalisation and automation advances. These end users must confront these wicked problems to ensure that safety, environmental protection issues and relevant business case(s) allow the shipping domain to thrive into the next century.
