Rasoul Atashipour

Researcher at Structural Engineering

Rasoul is a faculty researcher at the Division of Structural Engineering, research group Lightweight Structures. He received his master’s degree (2008) and his first PhD (2012) in Mechanical Engineering - Laminated Composite Structures, at Tehran University of Science & Technology, and later a PhD in Structural Engineering - Timber Structures (2016) at Lulea University of Technology. He also completed a Postdoc (2018) in Lightweight Structures - Steel & Timber Structures at Chalmers University of Technology.

His research interests span across a wide range of topics in Mechanical and Structural Engineering discipline namely, analysis and optimal design of Adhesive Joints, Lightweight Sandwich Structures, Plates and Shells, Pressure Vessels, Functionally Graded Materials, Laminated FRP Composites, and Timber Building Structural Elements.

The focus of his current research is on development of a design model for Glued-in Rod connections for multi-storey timber building structures, and a project related to an innovative lightweight laser-welded corrugated-core steel sandwich bridge deck.
