Digital Twins for Industrial Transformation DT-IT - A Platform for Facts-Based Decisions through Interoperable Data Flows
Research Project, 2025 – 2028

Purpose and Goal
DT‑IT aims to develop interoperable data‑flow solutions and a scalable methodology that enables industrial decision‑making for management, planning, maintenance, and operations. The overarching goal is to connect data flows across the industrial value chain, providing AI‑ and Digital Twin–powered interfaces that help decision‑makers utilize data more effectively.

Expected Effects and Results
The project will deliver a scalable and generic handbook created through four iterative development and demonstration cycles. These cycles will utilize—and contribute to—the new ISO 23247 Digital Twin standard. The expected impact is improved access to user‑friendly, connected data flows that allow organizations to handle both expected and unexpected changes in the value chain quickly and transparently.

Planned Approach and Implementation
DT‑IT begins with mapping existing and desired data flows via a requirement specification. Backend connectivity and user‑friendly front‑end interfaces (HMIs) are then developed and demonstrated through four agile, iterative demonstrator loops. All findings are consolidated into a handbook describing how data flows support informed decision‑making. Results will be demonstrated, the handbook disseminated, and collaboration with ISO and a Finnish sister consortium will strengthen scalability and impact.
