Causal Theory-of-Mind for Safer Multi-Agent Transport Systems (CausToMS)
Research Project, 2027 – 2028

In CausToMS, we will develop a general framework for embedding causality in multi-agent systems, with a particular focus on using causal models to represent a theory of mind of other systems in the environment and support the interaction between them. The project includes three main ambitious activities to achieve this goal: (i) the production of a causality taxonomy that facilitates the design of causal theory-of-mind models for transportation scenarios, (ii) the development of a method for using multimodal causal theory-of-mind models to predict the behaviour of other systems and select safe actions on the ego-system, and (iii) the design of a procedure that facilitates inter-system communication through causal-driven query generation.
