Intelligent Light
Research Project, 2012 – 2017

This project concerns development of lighting systems for commercial greenhouse cultivation of potted plants, both edible and decorative. The system under development uses LED lamps with spectra adapted to plant needs. There are in-built control systems for the various growth phases of the plants and their lighting is adapted accordingly. The environmental gains consist in lower energy requirements and more efficient resource use (smaller plant nutritional requirements and elimination of the need for mercury lamps).
