Introduction and Operation of AGV Systems – Managing interactions between humans, technology, and work organization
Book chapter, 2024

The use of Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) in warehouses is increasing, but at the same time, humans can be expected to remain present in roles of, for example, order pickers or fork-lift operators within the foreseeable future. This chapter provides an understanding of the interactions between AGV systems and their surroundings, specifically addressing the interactions with humans and work organization. The chapter aims to provide support on how these interactions should be managed. Both the introduction and the running operations of AGVs are addressed.
