Forskningsprojekt, 2025 – 2027

This applied quantum computing project aims to develop algorithms and heuristics for decision-making processes in transportation research and to demonstrate the computational benefits of quantum computing. In transportation science, decision algorithms solve mathematically difficult, yet practically relevant problems (e.g., vehicle routing, task scheduling, traffic assignment, location-routing) using combinatorial optimization and NP-hard methods. Our goal is to advance applied quantum research in transportation science and engineering by developing optimization software and coding, and by building new knowledge at Chalmers.

Goal 1: Solve EVRP (electric vehicle routing problem) and similar problems using model-based hybrid quantum-classical algorithms.

Goal 2: Create quantum programs that solve the aforementioned optimization problems.

Goal 3: Implement the developed models and algorithms on the Chalmers quantum computer and quantum simulator.
