Balázs Kulcsár är i forskargruppen Reglerteknik. Hans forskning syftar främst på design för intelligenta transportsystem, modellering av trafikflöden för styrning, linjära parametervarierande system och feldiagnostik. Balázs är medlem i projektet Transport Area on Advance, med syftet att uppnå ledande kompetens i framtida miljövänliga, säkra och effektiva transportsystem.
