Philipp Hoier

Researcher at Materials and manufacture

Philipp joined the department as a PhD student in 2014. His research concerns machining of advanced Ni-based superalloys for aerospace applications. More specifically the thermo-mechanical process conditions occurring during the cutting process and their influence on tool wear and surface integrity of the generated surfaces. Gaining further understanding of the prevailing mechanisms will help making the machining process more predictable and meeting the high surface quality requirements in aerospace industry.
