Centre for Battery Manufacturing, Products and Systems
Research Project, 2025 – 2028

Sweden is well-positioned to capture a significant market share in battery production due to its strong sustainability culture and collaborative environment among industry, academia, and government. MAXBATT addresses critical areas such as production technologies, maintenance, circularity in the value chain, large-scale production, and the human role in production, including gender, up-skilling, and safety. These topics are addressed with digitalization as means to enable sustainable battery production in MAXBATT.

Internationally, MAXBATT is connected to many stakeholders and strong networks, providing a platform for deep engagement and exchange with international research environments, networks, and initiatives. The overarching goal is to develop a sustainable industry in critical sectors like electromobility and societal electrification, contributing to climate neutrality and a circular economy through coordinated, interdisciplinary research and collaboration.
