Injury mechanisms in cycling accidents resulting in fractures
Research Project, 2017
The main purpose of this project is to analyse data on bicycle accidents in a new way. The analysis will, among other things, form the basis for guidelines for designing personal protection for cyclists and prioritizing measures in cyclists' infrastructure. The aim will be achieved by utilizing two existing national databases, the Swedish Fracture Register (SFR) and Strada (Swedish TRaffic Accident Data Acquisition), and matching them with personal identification number. This gives opportunity to find a correlation between fracture types (SFR has detailed information about fractures) and the event sequence of the accident (Strada contains information about the accident event, the vehicle, road conditions and the like).
