Samuel Lorin disputerade inom gruppen för geometrisäkrings och robust konstruktions. Hans forskning är fokuserad på att simulera geometrisk variation för lättviktsprodukter. Behovet av lättviktsmaterial inom vissa industrier har ökat för att minska miljöpåverkan hos sina produkter. Kunskap om hur produkters geometrier varierar och hur ickenominella produkter fungerar behövs i ett tidigt stadium av produktutveckling. Forskningen utförs i samarbete med industrin. Samuel undervisar i Advanced Computer Aided Design och maskinkonstruktion.
