Joakim Olsson is a PhD student working in the Industrial Biotechnology group. His research is on seaweeds and how valuable substances can be extracted and preserved. It spans from exploring the biochemical content and potential uses of Swedish seaweeds (fuels and chemicals), to preservation techniques (ensiling and drying) necessary for a future seaweed industry. In his work he commonly uses techniques in analytical chemistry, microbiology and biochemistry.
