Daniel Andrén

Doctoral Student at Chalmers, Physics, Bionanophotonics

I started my work as a PhD student in the Bionanophotonics division in the spring of 2016. I joined the group for a master’s thesis and found the field to be truly fascinating, so when the opportunity to continue for a PhD arose the choice was easy! I am studying plasmonic nanostructures subjected to laser illumination in both optical tweezers configurations and on substrates. This, in order to investigate photothermal effects, such as heating and reshaping, and also probe optical forces and rotations.I have a strong interest in optics and light/particle interaction, as well as nanotechnology in general, which have led me to this research field.
