My research is in the field of applied industrial microbiology. Special focus of my research is on metabolic engineering of yeast, understanding microbial physiology for improvement of industrial fermentations, and the study of bioelectrochemical systems for implementation in biorefineries. My research is strongly characterized by the definition of the connection between microbial physiology and the implementation of genetic and bioprocess engineering in the field of both green chemistry and food industry.
