Jonas Flygare

Doctoral Student at Chalmers, Space, Earth and Environment, Onsala Space Observatory, Electronics Laboratory

Jonas is a Ph.D. student with the Electronics Laboratory at the Onsala Space Observatory under the Department of Space, Earth and Environment. He works on research projects in radio and space science in collaboration with the Antenna Systems Group at the Department of Electrical Engineering. His research interest includes reflector single-pixel and phased array feed design, optics and microwave circuits for wideband receiver systems focusing on radio astronomy. His research projects include the Square Kilometre Array (SKA), feed development for the telescopes in Onsala and designing ultra-wideband feeds for the European VLBI Network (EVN) within the project BRoad-bAND (BRAND). His licentiate thesis included the feed design and characterization for SKA Band 1 and the decade bandwidth dielectrically loaded QRFH for BRAND. Currently he is working with PAF development for high sensitivity radio astronomy applications.Jonas has several years of experience in wideband antenna design from his work at the Onsala Space Observatory, as well as experience in semi-conductor R&D from working abroad. He received his B.Sc. Eng. and M.Sc. Eng from Chalmers in Engineering Physics.
