Hans-Olof Andrén
My research deals with the microstructure of primarily metallic materials, which I study with high-resolution microscopy and microanalysis. Main methods are electron microscopy and atom probe tomography, and the aim is to understand how the microstructure develops during fabrication and service, and how it determines the properties of the material. I study tool materials (cemented carbides and wera resistant coatings), heat resistant steels and zirconium alloys. I collaborate closely with researchers doing atomistic modeling (Profs. Göran Wahnström, Physics and Itai Panas, Chemistry and Chemical Engineering).
