The central topic of my research is the impact of the habitual diet on the risk of developing chronic diseases later in life. I am are especially interested in type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease prevention. On the one hand, these diseases account for a major part of impaired health and premature death burden globally. On the other hand, we know that most cardiovascular disease and diabetes cases can be prevented through a healthy diet and lifestyle. In a nutshell, we use complex molecular measurements in large nutrition studies toward a simple goal – giving more accurate and if indicated subgroup-specific or individually tailored dietary advice for chronic disease prevention.
