Maral Babapour Chafi
My research concerns adoption of innovations in workplaces from a user-centered design perspective. I have been investigating the implications of relocating to Activity-based Flexible Offices/AFOs (also called ABW/Activity-based working, or non-territorial/hot-desking offices). I am interested the interplay between: individuals, their activities, and and the ecology of technological artefact in workplaces. The questions that I address are:
- What design-related aspects in AFOs support and/or impede individuals’ activities and wellbeing over time?
- In what ways do individuals, groups and organisations adopt and adapt to AFOs?
- How can the design processes before relocating to AFOs be improved so that AFOs better match employees’ needs?
- What are the success factors in Occupational Health and Safety Management processes after relocating to AFOs?
Drop me a line, if you want to know more about my work.
