Hans-Georg Scherneck är docent i rymdgeodetisk mätteknik och ansvarig för gravimetrilaboratoriet vid Onsala rymdobservatorium.
Hans insatser inom forskning och forskarutbildning är inriktade på jordens deformation, tidvatten samt isostatiska rörelser efter isavsmältning. Hans hittills viktigaste arbeten ligger inom BIFROST-projektet där GPS-teknik används för att mäta Fennoskandiens pågående deformation.
