Emanuel Haglund doktorerar sedan 2013 i Optoelektronikgruppen vid avdelningen för fotonik. Han forskar om kiselintegrerade III-V-baserade hybridlasrar med vertikal kavitet samt snabba ytemitterande lasrar med vertikal kavitet (VCSEL, vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser) för framtidens optiska länkar i datacenter och superdatorer (HPC, high performance computer). Han avlade sin kandidatexamen och masterexamen 2011 resp. 2013 i Teknisk Fysik på Chalmers tekniska högskola.
