Maria Lagerström

Post doc at Maritime Studies

Maria is a post doc at the unit of Maritime Environmental Sciences and studies antifouling paints used for the protection of submerged vessel hulls against fouling. Her background is in environmental chemistry and during her Ph.D. her research focused primarily on the dispersal of antifouling biocides into the environment from the use of antifouling paints on recreational boats, as well as on the environmental risk assessment of these products. Maria's current project focuses instead on their use on ships, with the aim to identify sustainable antifouling strategies for the shipping industry.
