Beata Stahre Wästberg
Beata Stahre Wästberg is an associated professor and a senior researcher within the interdisciplinary field of visualization in urban planning processes, and is interested in the use of visualization as a tool for analysis, communication and dialogue in these contexts. At the beginning of her research career, Beata investigated problems of creating visual realism in virtual environments, with a particular focus on colour and light simulation and rendering. Her research has developed to focus on the challenges of visualizing invisible parameters in the urban environment (such as air quality, sound and social consequences) in 3D-city models, with the aim of facilitating understanding and communication in planning processes regarding the impact of such factors. Beata conducts interdisciplinary research and collaborates in her projects with researchers from other fields within the academy, actors from the city and government agencies, and companies from the private sector. Beata received her PhD in February 2009, and has since worked as a researcher at the departments of Architecture (Chalmers), Applied IT (University of Gothenburg) and Computer Science and Engineering (Chalmers).
