Merima Hasani disputerade med avhandlingen "Chemical modification of cellulose: New possibilities of some classical routes" inom ramen för Avancell, Fibertekniskt Centrum (ett samarbete mellan Chalmers tekniska högskola, Södra Cell, Tetra Pak och Korsnäs) i oktober 2010. Hennes postdoc projekt fokuserar på utveckling av metoder för kemisk modifiering av cellulosa i vatten.
