Elin Svenssons forskning handlar om effektivisering av industriella energisystem och strategiskt beslutsfattande kopplat till detta.
Forskningen syftar till att öka förståelsen av hur införande av ny teknik och ökad processintegration i industriella processer kan hanteras med avseende på styrbarhet, drifttillgänglighet och möjlighet att anpassa driften till ständiga förändringar i omgivningen.
I sin doktorsavhandling studerade Elin hur ett massabruk på ett energieffektivt och långsiktigt lönsamt sätt kan gå mot att bli ett bioraffinaderi. Där togs hänsyn till osäkerheter i framtida energipriser och utvecklingen av ny teknik.
