Mikael Käll is an experimental physicist focusing on fundamental and applied nanooptics and biophotonics. His current research projects mainly deals with the physics and applications of optical antennas and metasurfaces, as well as optical and photothermal forces. The primary objective of these studies is to pave the wave for new applications, such as optical biosensors and manipulation devices. He has previously worked with topics like surface-enhanced Raman scattering, light toxicity in yeast cells, and strongly correlated electron systems, including high-Tc superconductors. The Käll research group is primarily funded by the Knut & Alice Wallenberg Foundation and the Swedish Research Council.
