Johan Larsbrink

Docent vid Industriell bioteknik

Johan Larsbrink arbetar som Docent på avdelningen för Industriell Bioteknik, som han blev en del av 2015. Innan dess doktorerade han på KTH med disputation 2013, och genomförde sedan postdoktorstudier på Norges Miljö- och Biovetenskapliga Universitet. Han är medlem i , ett nationellt forskningscenter som syftar till att ta fram nya material från trä. Johan tilldelades 2019 priset Årets Forskarhandledare av Chalmers Doktorandsektion, och blev 2021 utsedd till ledamot i Sveriges Unga Akademi.

Hans forskningsbakgrund och pågående forskning kretsar främst om en bättre förståelse av mikrobiell nedbrytning av komplex biomassa, särskilt de kolhydrater som bygger upp växtbiomassa. Forskningen i hans grupp har finansierats av anslag från flera källor, inklusive Vetenskapsrådet, Energimyndigheten, Formas, och Novo Nordisk Fonden.

Johan undervisar på kurserna: (forskningsavdelningens doktorandkurs), KMB056 – Molekylär bioteknik, KBT016 – Biokemi och bioteknik, KBT185 – Projektkurs i kemi, samt BBT050 – Hållbar livsmedelsproduktion.
