Ola Isaksson
Ola Isaksson is a chaired professor in Systems Engineering and Engineering Design at the Division of Product Development at Chalmers University of Technology, Gothenburg Sweden. Ola has a MSc in Mechanical Engineering from Luleå university of technology (1993) , a PhD in Computer Aided Design (1999), and an Associate Professorship (Docent) in Functional Product Development (2010) from the same university. He is the leader of the Systems Engineering Design research group with the research interest of integration of technology in complex systems through engineering design. Such research include design automation and digital experiments, functional modelling and design margins modelling. Also engineering product development work methodologies, such as platform based modelling, sustainable and circular product development and transformation are in focus. Integration of technologies ranges from novel manufacturing technologies, such as additive manufacturing, to how to include systemic needs that drive industrial and societal development, such as circularity, sustainability and digitalisation. Ola is an active member in the International Design Society, where he co chairs the advisory committee and co leads e.g. the Design Practice Special Interest Group. He is the chair of the Nordic Chapter of Design Society and a founding member of the Swedish Product Development Academy. He is active as an expert advisor to several international and national research projects.
