Jonas Ringsberg
Professor Jonas Ringsberg is a professor of marine structures and the head of the Division of Marine Technology at Chalmers University of Technology. He teaches in courses and supervises thesis projects on the international master’s programme in Mobility Engineering (https://www.chalmers.se/en/education/find-masters-programme/mobility-engineering-msc/) at Chalmers within the profile track Marine Technology. The students that are examined from this track become Naval Architects. Jonas Ringsberg is active in research within several areas that relate to marine structural engineering and materials science, e.g., structural integrity analysis, constitutive material modelling of materials and their characteristics, ice mechanics, Arctic engineering and transportation, sustainable engineering, wind-assisted ship propulsion, marine renewable energy (wave and wind), autonomous shipping, energy modelling and performance analysis of ship systems, and computation methods for fluid-structure-interaction analysis. Professor Jonas Ringsberg is a member of RINA (F-RINA), SNAME (SNAME-Fellow) and ASME. He has been a member of several ISSC committees since 2006 and has been the chair of some of them: 2006-2012 Fatigue & Fracture (III.2), 2012-2018 Quasi-Static Response (II.1), and 2018-2025 Ultimate Strength (III.1). Professor Jonas Ringsberg is since the 1st of January 2024, the Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Ocean Engineering.
