Lars Larsson
Lars Larsson har varit professor i hydrodynamik vid Chalmers sedan 1982. Han har ett stort intresse för internationellt samarbete och var i många år medlem i ITTC:s Resistance Committee. Han är grundaren av flera workshops inom hydrodynamik. De senaste 30 åren har dessa skiftat mellan Göteborg och Tokyo. Professor Larsson har också varit en aktiv deltagare i många EU-projekt från mitten av 1990-talet, där de flesta europeiska organisationer med intresse för hydrodynamik har deltagit. Han har seglat sedan barndomen och varit engagerad som designkonsult i fem America's Cup-kampanjer i Sverige, USA och Italien. Han är författare till boken Principles of Yacht Design (tillsammans med Rolf Eliasson) och Ship Resistance and Flow (tillsammans med Hoyte Raven). Professor Larsson var prefekt vid institutionen 1999-2005 och viceprefekt och ansvarig för forskarskolan 2006-2009. År 2002-2010 var han även föreståndare för centret Rolls-Royce UTC. Han har haft en ledande roll i att introducera CFD (Computional Fluid Dynamics) inom skeppsbyggnadskonsten och han är grundare av mjukvaruföretaget FLOWTECH International AB, där han är styrelsemedlem. Under 1971-1989 var han forskningsingenjör vid SSPA. Han tog sin magisterexamen inom skeppsbyggnad vid Chalmers 1969 och har en doktorsexamen i tillämpad termo- och fluiddynamik från Chalmers 1975.
